character history
Born in a mining camp near the shores of Western Thanalan, Jethyk was orphaned by the Calamity like many across Eorzea. While working odd jobs in the Silver Bazaar, the young Miqo'te was offered a place in the wealthy household of an Ul'dahn merchant as a companion and bodyguard of his son, after saving the boy from peril.
Too wild and free to join the "civilized" society of the elite, Jeth soon ran afoul of his haughty adoptive family and was turned out to fend for himself. He was taught how to do just that in the alleyways of the poorer districts of Ul'dah, learning how to beg, bargain, gamble, steal and fight dirty.
Jethyk found himself loving the excitement of the Coliseum and anytime he gained extra coin he would spend it watching the fights; he dreamed of competing one day. When he turned 17, he trained himself in secret in Ul'dah's illegal underground fighting rings, nearly dying in the attempt but he survived, learning grit and determination.
Eventually the day he dreamed of came -- he was accepted onto the Coliseum roster as a low-tier competitor. Fighting his way inch by inch up the rankings, he became a fixture on the blood sands: a pugilist of cunning skill, winning some small fame for himself. He found wealth, he found adoration and he even found love, falling for a rival competitor.
When the war with Garlemald came, his lover joined the fight and Jethyk refused to leave their side. In Rhalgar's Reach he learned the Way of the Fist, eventually becoming accepted into the Fist of Rhalgar.
The war took many he cared about, including the one he'd pledged himself to for life. He traveled to the Azim Steppes to spread his love's ashes in his homeland, and returned to Eorzea, leaving the Eastern lands and their bittersweet memories behind.
Jethyk eventually returned to Ul'dah, training new fighters and occasionally hiring himself out as bodyguard for those in need.

Appearance On the taller end for a Miqo'te, Jethyk is surprisingly bulky with wide shoulders, a barrel chest and the thick biceps of a long-time fistfighter. His fur and hair are black, with natural green streaks, and his eyes are a vivid shade of violet. His pupils are round, but he does have the sharp fangs, facial markings, and longer ears of the Keeper race. On his left cheek are tattooed two stars, received through a drunken bet to an old friend. They are very special to him now.

Personality Jethyk is a jovial, wisecracking flirt that's surprisingly optimistic. He's generally laid-back but deadly serious in a fight. He looks for the good in people and treats those he meets as a friend already made. He's the first to call out bullshit with a wry grin, including his own; though the smile hides a lot of anger, especially towards the privileged taking advantage of the underclass. Mostly, he wants to help people, even if it means going against law or society.

As a teen Jethyk lived and worked at the Silver Bazaar and met many merchants and travelers through there.
He was a member of the pugilist guild for several years and trained with them, thinking of many of the members as family.
Jethyk had a small modest fame as a pugilist for the Coliseum for many years and was up against many competitors, winning and losing in fairly equal measure; he was somewhat known for his rivalry with an Au Ra monk, had modest wealth that he spent at many entertainment venues, and a small group of dedicated fans.
During the war for Ala Mhigo, he lived and worked for the rebellion in Rhalgar's Reach; he trained with the monks of the Fist of Rhalgar and became one of their growing ranks.
He was lovers with an Au Ra, a member of the Kha tribe; the two were in Kugane for a while and then lived among the Kha for a long time.
He's a current Fist of Rhalgar and travels often between Ala Mhigo and Ul'dah for training and other duties.
He's a fixture at many Ul'dah-based entertainment venues, enjoying any place that has dancers and musicians the most.
It's known among the more underground mercenary elements that he is a swordsell for hire, but only for jobs that do not hurt innocents.
